Housebound Stir Crazy Kiddos

Chalk it up to a taste of spring/summer; but a turn in the weather has had an unforeseen effect on the kids. In all honesty not that unforeseen, but the kids are in above average form these days.

One of the favorite activities is to race around the house with each kid "piloting" one of the larger toys (fire truck, ambulance, garbage truck, or car carrier). The track consists of a loop beginning in the family room (basket where toys are stored), through the kitchen, to the dining room and back to the family room (OK, it is an open floor plan so it is nearly one big room...but...). Here you can see Hank picking up steam and Jack done with the race and truly piloting the car carrier.

Hide and seek is another favorite. The "caves" on either side of the stove used to be a hit; now we have figured out the bookshelf is fair game...

Measuring is also a favorite pastime...we have daddy's traditional tape measure as well as mommy's (a sewing tape); luckily there are two because there are a lot of things that need measuring around here.

Leave Jack alone for a few minutes and...it is no longer emptying the drawers; one must refill the drawer...it is almost like a swing with the back and forth...

And who can beat peek-a-boo with your brother!
