Vacation's Almost Over....:(
With the clock ticking down on our vacation, we headed south to Lower Manhattan. Dad wanted to check the progress of the Ground Zero construction and that helped Mom justify a trip to Century 21. Little did Ella realize we were buying clothes for her little sister/brother to be....
We didn't take as many pictures at this point; having been there for a few years Lower Manhattan seems like a giant construction site. We did stroll over to Wall Street, past Federal Hall and the Stock Exchange; then headed back uptown to Times Square.
Dad & Ella stop for a picture on the train, all smiles. Ella was so proud of her straphanger status...(it was midday and the train wasn't too crowded)
Times Square had been one of Ella's favorite sights during this trip, and she hadn't even seen the Toys R Us there...we braved the crowds at Mom's insistence (there wasn't much of a crowd after all Dad...) and took a ride on the Ferris Wheel in the store. We didn't get the Little Tikes car, but Ella loved every minute of it.
After a nice nap, the girls came and met us for our last dinner (for a while) in the city. We took the easy way out, Don Giovanni's right across the street from Kerri's apartment. Ella was nearing the end of her rope, little did she know she'd be on a subway on the way to JFK for a 6 hour flight back to Seattle early the next morning.
It was a wonderful trip and we look forward to making regular pilgrimages to NYC as our family grows. We didn't get to see all of our friends, or visit all of our old haunts; but it was a great visit none the less. Feeling at home in more than one place has its benefits.
