The Park and Then Some
With a brilliant Saturday looming in front of us, we headed towards Central Park. We entered through Columbus Circle...Ella almost posed for the camera, but the traffic of the circle was just too great of a distraction. With the summer heat bearing down on us, a popsicle was a nice treat. Notice Ella's had her dress removed to prepare for this treat.
A stroll toward Strawberry Fields had a pit stop at the playground. Sand, slides, and so forth; you wouldn't be surprised that we were a stone's throw from Central Park West and Tavern on the Green...
As we headed east in the park every effort was made to wear Ella down...naptime for today was going to be in the air conditioned oasis known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Here Ella preps with her blanket and some juice.
Look who's fast asleep, she's missing the millennial old Greek and Roman artifacts.
Mom and Dad didn't kept our camera sheathed through the exhibits including one about comic book superheroes and of course the European Painting wing. As our little munchkin awoke we tried to get her to pose in the relatively new Greek and Roman sculpture garden...
After the Met, it was off to dinner. We hit one of Dad's favorites, Rosa Mexicana. (Dad blew it by not flagging down a booth, but we survived) Though they took his favorite dish of the menu, table side guacamole is always a hit; especially when accompanied by queso fundido!
It wouldn't be summer in Manhattan without the occasional downpour. Ella and Kristi were hamming it up in the rain. Had we known about the rail Dad would have ordered another round...Kerri would have most definitely seconded the motion.
