Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

A trip to the zoo in January? In Colorado apparently that's no big deal. A Saturday with some sun and above freezing temperatures and we headed south to Colorado Springs. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is always a hit for the giraffe herd. Ella talks about it every time the word zoo is mentioned.

Getting up close and personal with some hungry giraffes...

The boys procure some crackers to feed to entice the giraffes to come a bit closer.

Ella's plenty brave with a little support...the long purple tongue will not be deterred!

Someone's happy!

The little man was digging the cave near the other African animals...not to interested in the animals themselves at this point.

What would a zoo trip be without chasing some poor bird, be it a goose, a turkey, or a peacock. I suppose that's what they get for going after a snack trap.

After a lunch near the kids area, it was off to the play area. The little man was chasing his sister back and forth in another cave!

Then off to the Outdoor Colorado area to ride a stationary 4-wheeler...justification for future toys?
