Birthday Extravaganza - Part 2

As we neared Ella's actual birthday, it was time for the official celebration. Though Sunday was the official day, Mom made the executive decision that Saturday was the defacto birthday (only the Advent Calendar knows better).

Presents first thing in the morning? I'd say this is a genuine smile (as opposed to the toothy grin we've been getting of late)! Any time the pile of presents is bigger than you it must be a good birthday....

Hank is intrigued....

Dad attempts to coach the unwrapping...with marginal results.

Oh Boy!

The assembly begins...a note for future birthdays, Christmas', and general celebrations...only 224 parts in this box! Not pictured, Mom ably assembling flowers, people, and the like.

Success! (there is more assembly continuing out of picture...) Thanks Grandma & Grandpa Bursch!

Shortly thereafter it was unpacking the princess/fairy outfits. Ella has her first heels...and wings?

Our little princess!

Later that evening was the official family birthday celebration. We had a fair showing of Walshes and Ella was able to share all her new toys with friends. There was wine, appetizers were served, then it was lasagna for the adults and a penne bake for the kids.

While the dinner was homemade, Mom & Dad took the easy way out with a Costco cake! The decorations and candles were a hit. When it came to blowing out the candles, Ella had several offers of assistance and ultimately a slightly singed nose! The candles were extinguished and 9 1/2 pounds of cake was ready for consumption! We may have gone a bit overboard.

Then more presents!

First some heels, now a purse? Complete with a cellphone, credit card, and cash... (not pictured, Dad cringing in the background).

A good time was had by all, as company started to head for the door our little birthday girl started to lose steam. It was a good night of sleep for the whole household!
