Around Seattle

With Grandma and Grandpa in town from Nebraska, we thought we would hit up a few of the Seattle sights. On Friday we had been down to the Lake Washington Ship Canal Locks to see the salmon run.

Saturday began with a trip down to Fremont (Dad's old stomping grounds) for some coffee to start the day. We hit up Peet's, and yes it's not Seattle's native Starbucks...but rumor is it's the inspiration. OK, Ella looks a bit apprehensive here...but she was having a lot of fun running around. Really....

Then it was off to the UW to see where Dad will be spending much of the next three years (school starts in just over two months). Here we stopped in the quad for a picture.

We stopped for a break in Red Square, library in the background. Grandma and Ella were clowning around by this point.

Then Grandma to the rescue with a sippy of juice!

A stroll through campus to the fountain. It's similar to the old Broyhill in Lincoln, only with a giant mountain as a backdrop.

With ducks.
After some time at the U, it was off to the Arboretum. We strolled down to the Montlake cut and Lake Washington. Ella had her own ideas about where which direction we should be headed.

Grandma tries reason. It doesn't work for Dad.

So, Husky Stadium is no Memorial Stadium. But the water approach is hard to rival in Nebraska.

Grandma points out the boats headed to the sound.

Grandpa got in on the play by play for the boat traffic. Ella was enthralled.

Still in Seattle (really)
Watching the kayakers go by

After all that activity and a nap, it was off to our local park...swinging, sliding, sandbox, and all of Ella's other interests. Mom and Dad took advantage of the Grandparents eagerness to chase Ella around.

Then dinner at our local pizza joint, Snoose Junction (they have a train table).
