A Family Trip to Golden

It was practically balmy for a January weekend, the sun was shining, and the family was off to Golden for an outing. The plan was to stroll along the Clear Creek, meander downtown, and end with lunch.

The path is nice, but there was a bit more of a chill in the air than we expected. Don't mind the iced up creek in the background, it was well above freezing!

There were a number of pool areas that were not quite that functional due to the ice; and Mom wasn't going for Dad's argument to venture out onto the ice. Luckily there was an old homestead on the other side of the creek, complete with a few chickens in the coop.

Hank enjoys his growing mobility and independence, even if he let's dad lend a hand on uneven terrain.
The cold started to get to us, so we ducked into a family friendly coffee shop. They had a number of the usual accompaniments for a family friendly establishment; augmented by a playroom in the back with a foam floor and rocking horses. The rocking horses were actually inflatable, which lead to a few interesting turns.

After warming up for an hour, it was almost time for lunch. So we headed up main street to a pizza joint for lunch. The salad bar was a hit and the pizza was all you can eat! The napkin made a wonderful bib! The pizza was a hit, but the salad was regulated to mom and dad.

Shortly after lunch we piled back in the car for the drive back to the Ranch and the fight to keep kids from awake in the car so they could enjoy a quality nap in their own beds...always a challenge...no snoozy snoozy.
