The Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace

Ella is definitely being exposed to all the history, education, and culture that NYC has to offer. Dad is on quite a roll in arranging family outings to museums.

Saturday started off with Ella's first trip to a national park. No, it wasn't Mount Rainer, the Olympics, or the North Cascades; The Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace was the destination. It is a brownstone house that was reconstructed shortly after his death with the help of his family. It is packed full of memorabilia from his life and varied career; as well as a guided tour of period rooms from the 1850's and 60's of TR's youth, complete with original furniture. Dad is still not quite sure how he convinced Mom (and for that matter Kristi) to go on this outing, but being a brownstone assured it was a relatively brief excursion.

As you can see, Ella is seems to have dad's love of history.
Dad provided narration for the exhibits...Ella was quite enthralled.

When all was said and done, we retired to another relic of history. OK that may be a reach, but the Old Town Bar (and restaurant) has been open since 1892.
