BBQ, Hare Krishnas, & a Movie

What better way to spend a Saturday than at a block party? It might be a surprise, but even Manhattan has its occasional block party. This one was a giant BBQ event at Madison Square Park featuring BBQ joints from all over the country. Ella may have graduated to sweet potatoes, but Mom & Dad couldn't seem to locate the pureed food wagon. It was left for Mom, Dad, & Kristi to enjoy the brisket, beans, pulled pork and the like. Ella had to settle for playtime in the park. She seemed quite content attempting to escape the sheet for the freedom of the grass...

After a while relaxing in the park, there was quite a bustle emanating from the junction of Broadway and 5th Avenue. We headed over that direction to discover thousands of Hare Krishnas parading down 5th Ave. Ella was a bit tired, but the chanting and bright colors were a big hit. The Krishnas were pulling the giant pagodas down the street with huge ropes. It was all quite a sight.

After heading down Broadway, Mom & Dad decided to be brave and take in a movie; Kristi was up for the challenge. Somewhat fittingly, we ducked into Knocked Up. Ella was her usual quiet self for the first half of the movie, however at some point she seemed to think that the folks on screen were talking to her. The polite thing to do is to talk back of course, so Mom & Dad took trips ferrying Ella into the hall. This is probably the last movie to be seen at the theater in a while.
