Family Trip to Boulder
Continuing to explore our new community we headed up to Boulder on Sunday. Boulder is a very liberal, vibrant college town making Mom and Dad a bit nostalgic for Ballard.
The Pearl Street pedestrian mall was filled with beautiful flowers, interesting shops and several fun kiddo play areas. We visited a wonderful kite and toy store where Dad picked out several tiny novelty vehicles and horses hoping to ensure a peaceful lunch. There were four ponies one of which was a clydesdale quickly named Anheuser which Ella cannot pronounce. Several times a day she asks "Have you seen Mainheimer, Onnouser etc ....."
Dad was also not aware of our current strategy whereas you buy two of everything exactly the same whenever it is practical. So Ella and Hank spent most of lunch fighting over one, two inch tall, fifty-cent green engine. Nobody wanted the blue engine, the green one was much superior. Lunch these days is already an experience as we are quite the spectacle entering the restaurant with a petite preschooler, a gigantic toddler and an adorable infant with all the appropriate paraphernalia. After a nice although energetic lunch we shared a shaved ice on the way back to the car. Overall a nice, family outing.
