A Sunday at Discovery Park
Well, spring has been in the air in the Northwest so we decided to head out for a Sunday hike. In this instance we did not head all the way into the mountains, we chose the short drive across the Ballard Bridge to Magnolia and Discovery Park. For those not familiar with Seattle, Discovery Park includes great views of the Olympic Mountains, hiking trails, beaches, a lighthouse, as well as a couple interpretive centers and old Fort Lawton.
After a hike down to the beach, Ella headed straight for the water. Dad had to slow her down before she strolled into the sound.Ella is insistent on where she wants to go these days. Typically she pulls on your finger to drag her with you, but in this case it was tugging on Dad's pants.
Mom and Ella with the Lighthouse off in the distance.
Ella leads the way.Ella collected sea shells for the first time, though we were unsure as to whether or not it was fun.
A break on a bench made of driftwood. It was followed by some milk!
Clowning around while Mom poses for a picture? Wonder where she gets that trait from???
Finally a smile for the camera!
Getting set for the hike back up the bluff.
We saw a bald eagle on the hike back up the bluff. No zoom, in the center of the below picture; it was about 20-30 feet from the trail.
Cropped...Ella was not all that impressed.
Once we made it back to the top of the bluff, we rested in a field. That is until Ella decided to stroll off on her own.
